Jennifer Paynter

13434910 1040082586080717 4571494780855527557 nJennifer Paynter has an unshakable belief that it is possible to improve the quality of life starting at the FEET. She claims that feet are the foundation on which the body balances, therefore if the feet are strong and healthy, general health will surely follow. In her work she observes feet at rest, feet walking, and feet in motion during sport and dance. Jennifer, therefore, always begins her instruction by striving to perfect the alignment and carriage of the body, ‘from the feet upwards’. Her extensive interest in functional anatomy had its beginnings under the guidance of Prof. R. P. Trevor-Jones (Witwatersrand University.) and Dr. R. Goldsmith, both renowned orthopedic surgeons. Consequently she worked with adults and children in need of injury and defective posture rehabilitation with excellent results.

In 1973 Jennifer relocated from Johannesburg to Cape Town, where she assisted many professional dancers in rehabilitation from work related injury and, more importantly, prevention of further injury. She was frequently heard to say, “…if you open your mind to ALLOW bad habits of a lifetime to change, you WILL succeed.” She lectured in Anatomy in relation to dance at the University of Cape Town, while continuing specialist training for both teachers and dancers in her own studio. Jennifer has coached young gymnasts in their training for the 2004 Olympic Games, marathon runners, physiotherapists and dentists (who often suffer chronic work-related posture problems), to name just a few. In the mid-1990s, she discovered Pilates as an ideal platform to augment her skills, and subsequently moved to Geneva, where, over a period of eight years, she became renowned for her advanced work within the Swissbody® Pilates Centres. And the message soon spread, with people seeking her care from as far away as the Canary Islands, Dubai, England and Brazil. Jennifer has now returned to Cape Town where her career continues.

In 2016 Jennifer completed her now, famous, DVD : « FEET FOR LIVING, FEET FOR LIFE ».
